Do I have to attend all my lectures?

You’re expected to go to all your teaching hours, including lectures, seminars, practicals and personal tutorials. When you register at the University you sign up to the Student Contract which states that continuous unauthorised absence could lead to you receiving formal warnings about your poor academic performance. If the University views your absence as a serious problem then you could be excluded.

If you’re an international student the University has a legal responsibility to report serious cases of non-attendance to the UK government as this could affect your visa. It’s therefore important that you always tell your School in advance if you’re going to be absent.

If at any time you’re having problems that are affecting your attendance, talk to your personal tutor or come in and chat to us at LUU Advice.
