Making Friends and Finding Community
Starting university is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming—especially when it comes to making friends. Most students feel the same way at first, and there are plenty of ways to meet people and find your community.
- Joining a club or society is one of the easiest ways to meet like-minded people. Whether you’re into sports, music, gaming, volunteering, or want to share in language or culture, there’s a group for you. Check out our website for a full list of societies and events.
- Welcome events, study groups, and campus activities are great chances to meet new people. Even if it feels a little outside your comfort zone, saying yes to something new can lead to great friendships. You can see whats on at LUU here.
- The university has lots of helpful programs and activities for making friends such as; the International Welcome team, Buddy Scheme, Student Content Creators, HOST UK visits, Unity activities, Global Café.
Building friendships doesn’t happen overnight. Be patient with yourself and others—sometimes the best connections come from small, everyday interactions.
