The University of Leeds Men’s Basketball has three teams competing in BUCS leagues at various levels.

Our first team is primed for a big season and consists of our most competitive players looking to compete at the highest level.

The second team consists of experienced and competitive players, with several players hoping to step up into the first team ahead of the coming season.

Our third team consists of passionate players with less experience playing basketball. There will be weekly development sessions for players who are new to the sport, with potential for these players to step up into the third team.

We welcome all standards of player and are particularly keen to develop players to compete at higher levels. Members will get to know other students within the club through regular training and socials.

1st and 2nd team: Mondays 6:30pm-9pm, The Edge Sports Hall 1

1sts, 2nds and 3rds: Fridays 5pm-7pm, The Edge Sports Hall 1

Development Team: Wednesdays 9pm-10pm, The Edge Sports Hall 1

Additional sessions will be available on an almost daily basis for first, second, and third team players, as court bookings can be made by students as long as the sports hall is available.

Development Tournament to be determined based on numbers.

The club holds socials every Wednesday night with various themes and activities. We hold socials with lots of other societies including cheerleaders and most weeks will be with our women’s team each term. If going to a night club isn’t your scene then not to worry we will be doing 2K tournaments throughout the year and watching NBA games throughout the season too, Especially the Finals.

Our socials aim to create an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone at the club to fortify friendships throughout the society from 1st team all the way to development. We want everyone in the club to be involved, meaning we offer a number of sober socials alongside our regular socials where we can bond as a club away from the training and nights out.

The aim is for everyone to feel welcome, from freshers to post-grads, because we believe that the social aspect of a sporting society is vitally important for boosting chemistry between our club members for success on the court and off.

The club runs an annual tour every Easter to Croatia alongside all the other sports teams in the university and many around the country. Enjoy a wild week of nightlife and basketball with teams from around the country. This is a great opportunity to get to know your teammates and you’ll be sure to come home with tour blues.

If you have any questions about our socials, contact our social secretary:

Freddie Boon
