Global Café x Cultural Corner Ramadan and Accent Bias Awareness
A Global Cafe special session to raise awareness and understanding of Ramadan, its values, and practices as part of the World Unite Festival! Through crafting star and crescent moon paper decorations and wooden lantern crafting, you will have the opportunity to learn about symbolism in Islamic culture with our LUU Postgraduate and International Student Executive Officer, Katrina Liu.
We will also have staff from the Embracing Linguistic Diversity Research Group visit Global Cafe to give you the opportunity to join the conversation by sharing what your accent means to you, celebrating the diversity of voices on campus and supporting the campaign to tackle accent bias and accent-based discrimination.
Global Cafe is a weekly opportunity for current students and postgraduate researchers to meet new people, relax with friends, have great conversations, and enjoy free refreshments. Global Café hosts are there to welcome newcomers and help everyone have a lovely Monday evening.
No need to book, just come along to LUU Common Ground on the day and bring your student card/number with you.
