We are very excited to announce that first weekend away to the beautiful 3 Peaks in the Yorkshire Dales!

This is sure to be an awesome weekend packed with hiking and exciting wilderness scenarios using all our new kit!

Where: Yorkshire Dales. Staying in a cosy bunkhouse in Ribblesdale. 

When: Leaving Leeds 6pm on Friday 8th November, returning to Leeds around 8pm on Sunday 10th November.

Cost: £42pp which includes transport, accommodation and food (3x meals Saturday, 2x meals Sunday, plus lots of tea and snacks!)

KIT LIST

The weather at this time of year can be unpredictable, and is likely to be pretty wet! We won't let that stop us going outside, meaning it is really important to have everything on the kit list to avoid becoming a wilderness medicine casualty yourself! If you don't have any kit, ask around your friends or drop us a message and we may be able to help source something to borrow!

• Appropriate warm clothing for hiking, with a spare change of clothes
• Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers
• Sturdy hiking footwear - boots or walking shoes preferable (no pumps, converse, trainers with poor grip)
• Sleeping bag and pillow for the bunkhouse
• Warm hat and gloves 
• Casual clothes for travelling/ the bunkhouse 
• Swimming Costume (optional, for if we find a nice wild swimming spot)
• Water bottles, 1L minimum
• Tupperware for lunch
• Extra walking snacks 
• Rucksack 
• Black bin bag (or dry bags if you have them)
• Personal wash-kit and towel 
• Sun protection and sunglasses
• Head-torch (if you have one)
• Cash/ID (we will be stopping to get dinner en route and there's a pub next door we may visit)

OTHER INFO

There will be a mandatory kit check of footwear and waterproofs before we go away. Details of how this will happen will be sent to the email associated with your LUU account once you've purchased a ticket. We will also need to collect some information in advance of the trip, to enable us to complete the relevant paperwork with LUU. Please keep an eye on your emails to ensure you do not miss this information, as you will not be able to come on the trip if these steps aren't followed. 

If you don't have any medical experience, we also strongly suggest you come to our **FREE** Emergency Skills Session in RPP at 7pm on 21st October, where we will be teaching you how to approach a wilderness casualty. We will also use this evening to conduct our kit check, so if you're coming along then feel free to bring your gear with you so our committee can see it.

Details about departure time and location will be emailed to the address linked to your LUU engage account the week before the trip, and discussed at the Emergency Skills Session on 21st October.

Baking Competition

There will be an optional baking competition. THERE WILL BE PRIZES for the nicest baked goods. Baking will be judged by some of committee. There will be 3 prizes for Best Cake, Best Baked Good (Non-Cake) and Best Themed Cake The theme is ‘Wilderness Casualty’. Do with that information what you will. Please make sure your goodies are easily transportable in a car boot (no loose cakes!). There's no restrictions on what to make but please keep a list of allergens and NO NUTS to avoid any cross-contamination. We want to save our EpiPen for scenarios only.
