Leeds Wilderness Medicine is a fun and friendly society that welcomes everyone. Whether you are looking for a career in wilderness medicine or just love roaming the outdoors and want to learn some new skills along the way, we hope you will come and join us!
What we do:
We focus on expedition medicine and pre-hospital care whilst out in the wilderness. We go on regular day trips to the Yorkshire Dales, as well as weekends away to various parts of the UK. Whilst out walking, we integrate scenarios to teach you what to do if an injury occurs and you are miles away from a hospital, waiting for help to arrive.
We also have links with Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team and hope to run more events with them in the future after the success of the 2020 Yorkshire Wilderness Medicine Course.
In the non-Covid era, we have many socials including Otley runs, pub nights, Christmas dinner and summer trips.
We go on regular day trips in the local area, including trips to Ilkley Moor, Settle, Skipton and Ribblehead, as well as weekends away which take you all over the country. In the past we have visited Northumberland, the North York Moors, Snowdonia and many more.
These events are not to be missed, so keep an eye on our Facebook page or contact the committee for more details.
Membership is only £6 for the year and gives you access to great events, talks and socials throughout the year.
