Can I resit my assessment?

Resits are usually reserved for students who have failed an assessment. This includes exams, essays and any other assessed work. For undergrads the pass mark is 40, for taught postgrads on Masters programmes the pass mark is 50.

If you’re unsure about whether you can resit, just speak to your School as the rules may vary depending on your course and individual situation.

You can find out more about Marking Scale information here.

You can’t usually opt for a resit on the basis that you are unhappy with a mark which is considered a pass.

From 2016/17 students have one resit opportunity. If you have failed an assessment you will usually be able to resit it in August. If you’re a final year students this will most likely affect when you can graduate.

Rules can be different depending on your course start date so if you’re unsure just speak to your School or come and see us at LUU Advice.
