How should I budget?
Being a student can be a bit pricey, but there are lots of ways you can keep costs down.
Start by adding up all of your income, so this is any loans, grants, benefits or jobs. Then add up your outgoings (don’t cheat). You can then work out the difference and work out if you’ve not got enough money or how much is left over.
If you’ve just realised you are spending more than you’re earning, have a look on Money Saving Expert for some ways to stretch your student loan.
Don’t know where to start? The government has an online calculator which you can use anonymously to see how healthy your current financial situation is. It’ll just take five minutes and can be found here.
