Welcome to Handball
Welcome to Leeds University Handball Club, the biggest handball club in Yorkshire! Handball is a fast paced and exciting sport that is played professionally throughout Europe. Whether you want to try a new sport or continue with an already familiar one, handball is the perfect one for you! As a club, we welcome all levels of experience, independent of whether you have played before or not. Our aim is to promote teamwork, passion and development to make everyone feel included.
Give It A Go:
The first training at the beginning of every semester is open for everyone to try out handball. It is a free opportunity for you to gain some insight into the sport and club! More information will be provided on our social media when the time comes.
Trainings:
Our trainings are every Thursdays 8-10 pm in the Edge. Men and Women train at the same time but on the different ends of the court. We also collaborate with Leeds City Handball to provide advanced training for our members once a week.
Competitions:
We enter two women’s teams and two men’s teams into BUCs every year, subject to the amount of players. We also compete in the Christie Cup, Varsity and many friendly matches/tournaments against other university teams throughout the year. These allow us to be a competitive club whilst also having many opportunities for everyone to gain experience and confidence in their abilities.
Socials:
Every Wednesday we have our weekly sports social involving fun themes, optional silly challenges and a lot of fun. They are a friendly and inclusive environment, where everyone can get to know each other off the court and make amazing memories.
We also go to Old Bar each week after training, to catch up and chat in a casual and relaxed setting. Further social events such as an Otley Run, Summer BBQ or Handball Tour occur throughout the year as well as our monthly sober socials and run club.
Socials are a great place to make friends and get to know the society as a whole. There is no pressure to come, though members are always welcome and many choose to have a social membership.
