Hello and welcome to The Gryphon!

Founded in 1897, The Gryphon is Leeds University’s official student newspaper and is regarded as one of the most successful and prestigious student publications in the UK.

Whether you're here for fun, writing experience, or simply have an opinion, at there's something here for you!

Our alumni include Jay Rayner, Polly Curtis, and Nicholas Witchell, as well as current journalists working with the Guardian, the Independent and Gal-Dem! Whether you’re an experienced journalist or a beginner, we offer training and feedback to help launch your writing career.

Training

Anyone can write for The Gryphon!

We provide training, workshops, and personalised feedback for everyone! Whether you have a passion for fashion journalism, or want to learn how to write a cracking sports report, we have a team of experienced editors to help you improve.

 

Meetings

The Gryphon is made up of 11 different sections, from News and Views to Music, Arts, Science and Sport. Each section holds regular meetings to discuss content ideas- for more info, visit the Facebook pages of contact the addresses via www.thegryphon.co.uk/joinus/.

 

Socials

We organise a range of social events throughout the year, from pub quizzes to walks, cinema trips, and drinks out. We also organise industry events and alumni talks for you to develop as a journalist.

 

Membership

One year membership costs £15 (come on, you know it's worth it!)
