Hi, I’m Patty, a third year Architecture student heading into my fourth year. I know firsthand how intense and demanding our course can be and that’s exactly why I believe we deserve opportunities to relax, connect, and enjoy the time we do get outside the studio. After joining ArcSoc this year, I’ve loved getting involved and meeting people across the school. It’s been a great experience, and now I’d like to give back by building on what’s already in place and helping take our social scene even further. If elected as Social Secretary, I’ll work to create a range of events that are both fun and meaningful, from relaxed meetups to creative nights out, and even collaborative events that connect different year groups and other societies. I want everyone to feel included, whether you’re in your first crit or prepping your final portfolio.

Hey everyone! I’m Malek, a first-year architecture student, and I’m running to be your next Social Secretary of the Architecture Society.

I’m passionate about architecture not just as a degree, but as a way of thinking, designing, and connecting. As Social Secretary, I want to create a calendar of events that goes beyond just socials, a balance of fun, creativity, skill-building, and community.

Here’s what I’d aim to bring to the society:

Mini Architecture Competitions

From fast-paced sketch battles to small model building contests, these fun challenges will help build your portfolio while boosting your creativity and confidence.

Spaghetti Bridge Tournament

A playful but competitive event where students can compete against each other or even against lecturers and professionals in a test of engineering and design.

Hands On Model Workshops

Casual sessions to learn new techniques, share methods, and just get stuck into making things whether it’s concept models or detail-focused work.

Hikes and Outdoor Adventures

Design walks, sketching in nature, and day hikes to reset and reconnect with the environment and each other.

Architecture Abroad Trips

I’ll help plan accessible group trips to explore architecture in cities like Barcelona, Amsterdam, or Copenhagen, mixing education with unforgettable experiences.

All-Year Integration

I’ll encourage more inter-year socials and skill shares, so we can learn from each other, swap ideas, and break the ice between cohorts. Think: Pass sessions, pin-up critiques, or portfolio swaps.

Continue Coffee Mornings

These are such a great way to bring people together regularly whether it's a casual chat, idea sharing, or even themed discussions (like mental health in architecture or favorite buildings).

I want to make the Architecture Society a space that inspires, connects, and develops us not just socially, but academically and professionally too.
