Hi there! My name is Fatih, and I am currently finishing EEE 1st year. I would like to nominate myself for this role, as I have seen ShockSoc’s events this year. To be fair, I was quite satisfied with them. However, as everything in life, they can be enhanced. As the Secretary, my first plan is to talk with team members and maintain the quality of events that was done this year, such as Coffee Mornings, PixelBar visits, PaintBall, and especially the Robot Fighting League. I am also planning to communicate with my team members to bring forward more ideas. For example, as EEs I really think we can organize coding competitions, where we bring a problem and rank according to speed, accuracy and creativity of the solution. This way we would both have a great time (hopefully if you enjoy coding :) ), and sharpen our skills. Besides this, I also think we can try to bring Drone Racing : specially designed obstacles course that would see competitors, well … race their drones :) Also we can try to promote RFL to outer societies, and try to catch the interest of more audience, that will motivate competitors, and escalate ShockSoc’s reputation university-wide. In addition, one thing I missed this year was that the society didn’t have a football or any sports team that I knew of. As a future member I will try to reinstate this. Also, talk with Sports Secretary to organise sports tournament within engineering departments, where we can unite as tech minds. Hence my main objective is to bring quality to this exciting team of 2023/24. Keeping in mind that we at least have to deliver the same standard as previous years, but our main goal being “improve, improve, improve…”
