Welcome to ShockSoc (Electrical Engineering)

⚡ShockSoc (Electronics & Electrical Engineering Society) at the University of Leeds is open to all undergraduates, postgraduates as well as hobbyists!

 

What we offer: 

  • Robot Fighting League (RFL)

Robot Fighting League, an event similar to BBC 2's Robot Wars hosted by ShockSoc in the University.
Skill Development Labs will be organized to assist you in building the first robot!
Have a go at building your own 5kg fighting robot to become the Leeds RFL champion!
More information regarding this will be sent out by the committee.

 

  • Skill Development Lab sessions (SDL)

ShockSoc regularly has cool SDL's planned throughout the years to give the necessary skills for a job application. You will have the unique opportunity to get hands on experience with components as well as learning some vital skills such as CAD, RC electronics, soldering etc.
 

  • Social Events

We run many fun Social Events along with academics related events throughout the year. Make sure to drop by events like Pixelbar, coffee mornings etc.
 

  • Sports Events

We organize recreational as well as competitive Sports tournaments. Make sure to suggest us the sports you would like ShockSoc to organize!

 

Membership

The membership is free for all Electronics & Electrical Engineering (EEE) and Mechatronics & Robotics students (M&R) (Anybody in the school of EEE), or £7 for non EEE students.

Being a member gives you access to compete in RFL, Skills Development Labs (aimed to increase practical skills) & all of our socials and events. We have some very exciting projects in works that you do not want to miss!
