Hi, I'm Sam and I am running for Secretary.

I am very passionate about improving resources and education for students in Leeds interested in Emergency and Acute Medicine. I have spent my last year intercalating in Prehospital Emergency Medicine in London with the London Air Ambulance, where I have had the privilege of witnessing the overlap between all forms of acute care, from the Prehospital phase, to the transfer and care provided in Resus, and then the continuation of the patient's care in either theatres/ICU/wards. I have worked many shifts with different members of an Emergency Medicine team, including HEMS Doctors and Paramedics, Advanced Paramedics and Nurses.

I also have developed strong connections with many Emergency Department doctors and Anaesthetists around the country, who would be willing to help CrashSoc develop further with teaching and events, in order to provide the best possible Acute and Emergency Medicine teaching for the students of Leeds. I also have connections with the Sheffield Emergency and Prehospital Emergency Societies, and have discussed the possibility of joining forces with them for some extended events and conferences throughout next year.

I believe there is a vast scope for improving Acute Medicine teaching and support for students within Leeds, and with my organisation and passion for the subject, I hope I would be able to push this to the next level with CrashSoc. I have very good organisational skills, and am very used to working as part of a team, which I have enhanced through work in event medicine, and as part of my intercalation where team simulated tasks were mandatory teaching.

I believe this role would be great for me to help push CrashSoc to the next level and develop it as a society, whilst also working with the great members of the society who have been involved since it's beginning!
