As a candidate for the Clinical Year Representative position, I am excited to offer my dedication for enhancing our clinical education experience. In this role, I envision fostering an environment where there are more opportunities to practice and learn DOPS, examinations, and OSCEs than the university currently provides, ensuring every student feels supported and confident to get hands on during placement. I am keenly aware of the challenges that lie ahead, of third year too; navigating elective opportunities and considering intercalation. Through events and informative sessions tailored to our year 3 clinical responsibilities, I aim to equip us with the resources and guidance needed to thrive.

Collaboration lies at the heart of my approach. I believe that by working closely with my fellow clinical year representatives, we can leverage the combined skills and experience of senior years to create impactful experiences for our peers, organising a range of activities tailored to our collective needs, from skills workshops to informative sessions on elective planning and intercalation.

My passion for surgery, coupled with my previous involvement in society courses, and several extra-curricular surgical events reflects my genuine dedication to this role. I am eager to channel this enthusiasm into serving as a trusted advocate and representative for our cohort.

Hi everyone! My name is Rubab Ali and I am a second-year international student from Pakistan. My keen interest currently lies in General Surgery, driven by its diverse and challenging cases, along with the chance to swiftly make a significant impact on patients' lives through surgical interventions. I have been an active member of cutting edge since the past year having attended several of its conferences (Orthopaedic and trauma, general surgery talks) and suturing workshops. Through these events, I have witnessed firsthand the society’s dedication thus I would love to put forward my candidate statement for the position of "Clinical Years Rep". I think I have the relevant teaching background and organisational skills for this position:

Teaching has always been a great passion of mine since GCSE where I would provide mathematics tuition to my fellow classmates. Also, taught at several ‘special centres’ to children with different needs. I am currently PALS1 Co-lead where I design and deliver lectures for year 1 medical students. Such vast experience of teaching equipped me with strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to tailor my teaching methods to suit the needs of diverse learners. I am adept at breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more understandable components, fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment. I am looking forward to conducting different clinical teaching sessions and OSCE preparations.

As a former head girl in A Level and O'Levels, I have honed my skills in organising events and conferences, overseeing logistics and ensuring seamless execution. I have successfully led teams to coordinate various initiatives, demonstrating my ability to delegate tasks effectively and foster collaboration among team members. These skills will surely come handy in organising different events such as intercalating events, different clinical skills sessions.
