Hi!

I’m Hasan and I would like to be your Year 2 Pre-Clinical Representative.

I have attended some of the events held by Cutting Edge this year and I would like to contribute to Cutting Edge by helping to deliver events designed for the pre-clinical years, including anatomy crash courses, teaching, and more. Furthermore, I would like to help Cutting Edge in organising larger events like conferences and help the society grow further.
Importantly, I would also like to find out what events you would find helpful as a pre-clinical student.
To fulfil this role, I will use my previous experiences being involved in student councils and in student leadership roles at school.

Hey,
I am Fatimah, a first year medical student and I would love to be part of the 24/25 cutting edge committee as pre clinical rep!

I am keen to contribute to this amazing society with my commitment and enthusiasm, by helping to organise events like GIAGs, anatomy teaching and workshops, to assisting at conference days and more.

My journey with the society so far has been amazing! , from learning new suturing techniques to exploring laparoscopy in workshops. The insights from experienced surgeons have been incredible and the support from committee members every time. As a pre clinical rep, I will further help facilitate such educational and exciting events.

I am confident in my ability to excel in this role, using my strong organisational skills to support the committee in coordinating large-scale events like the annual conference and crafting more tailored initiatives for preclinical students. As an active participant in previous events, I understand the dedication required to deliver quality, informative, and inspiring experiences. With my background in various societies, including sports, I thrive as a team player and in leadership, communicating effectively with my peers to support common goals.

In addition to supporting Cutting Edge events, my focus as pre clinical rep will be to organise additional anatomy teaching events, to support pre-clinical syllabus, and learning on any surgical placements. Surgical rotations are particularly challenging as preclinical students so introducing both practical sessions on learning how to scrub in, or more informative sessions with current surgeons will help members feel more confident!

Also, I would like to improve awareness of surgical research and innovation, as we all know surgery is an ever-changing field. The importance of exposure to research was stressed by numerous speakers in events across the year, and this makes it a priority to give such opportunities to members. Signposting research opportunities to pre-clinical students and how to get them can help members start to build a portfolio and develop a deeper understanding of the surgical field.

HELLO THERE!

From practising suturing and shadowing surgical words in my free time at the LGI, to delving into academic surgical research in my first year, I find surgery very appealing.
I really enjoy working with other individuals to effectuate and bring fruition to good ideas and ensure the smooth flow of event proceedings.

I have attended some suturing sessions with cutting edge, along with some talks, and I’d really love to not just be a part of that, but to help organise them as well.

I’m able to manage my time quite well, despite keeping myself busy. I believe this, combined with my love for teaching, is that makes me a suitable candidate for undertaking the role of a pre-clinical rep.
