Whilst we are a society dedication to intersectional feminism, we recognize the need to continue questioning ourselves in how we can improve our inclusivity. Equality and diversity is all about ensuring Femsoc cater to as wide a range of students as possible, and the role of E&D officer is to provide a voice of advocacy to marginalized student groups.

This could look like hosting collaborative discussions with other societies aimed at educating members on one particular area such as disability, trans rights or leading campaigns to widen the society's membership throughout the Leeds Community and to listen to as many people as they can. Examples of work done on this in the past are Working Class Awareness Week, a workshop in Trans Allyship for Trans Awareness Month and discussions on being a Neurodivergent Feminist.

The role of E&D should ideally go to a student who identifies as an intersectional feminist, to apply their personal experiences to provide empathy and understanding to the issues experienced by women of all different backgrounds. This could include disability, sexuality, race, class, age and more. The role is fairly flexible and has a lot of potential, so it'd be great to have someone passionate and motivated leading the society in this area!
