The role of the Secretary is to support the president in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Committee.

The Secretary should record and maintain the minutes of meetings, help delegate tasks, be a point of contact for anybody to get in touch with the society, help organize meetings and respond to emails on the Femsoc account or messages on social media.

Aside from this, the LUU FemSoc Secretary role is quite fluid (and very important) one, as other tasks may be delegated to you such as running meetings themselves, designing social media posts on Canva, helping organize socials and fundraising events as well as aiding the treasurer. The Secretary role essentially acts as a glue that holds the committee together and plays a supporting role to other members of the committee. Equally that can be reserved in the sense that the secretary may delegate jobs to other committee members too.

Due to some complications this year of struggling to find an active member for this role, It is important for us to clarify that anyone considering the role as Secretary must have the time and commitment to the role. Although it does not hold as much specific responsibility such as the President, being a Secretary still provides a lot of opportunities to make a significant difference for the society by being the first hand collaborator with the President.

Being on the Femsoc committee is a fantastic way to meet new people who are like-minded to you and being secretary overall is definitely for someone who isn't afraid to talk to anyone and is super organised!
