The appeals procedure is currently being redeveloped. Some new aspects are being brought in this year, and we are updating our guidance as things develop. If you're unclear about any part of the procedure, please email advice@luu.ac.uk or contact Student Cases at studentcases@leeds.ac.uk.

If your appeal is accepted, it will go to your School for their consideration. This is not necessarily the final response to your appeal.

Your School’s response will be formal in nature, and some students say this can feel dismissive of their circumstances, or like a criticism, but it’s important to understand the process is not personal.

Your School will have looked at your appeal and evidence, and they will go back to check their records, including any communication with you about the situation you are appealing against. Even if they can empathise with your appeal, it’s their job to prove that they acted according to the University’s rules and regulations.

That said, sometimes Schools make mistakes and they can admit to them here. They might also think that there is further mitigation they are happy to provide. If they are supportive of your appeal they may offer what's called a Stage 2 Resolution.

If you are happy with the resolution proposed you can accept this and the appeal will come to an end. If you remain dissatisfied then you can raise a further appeal against this resolution.
