Get Out Get Active guided walking trip to Malham Cove and Goredale Scar on Sunday 6th October 2024

£ 18.00 GBP

Max 2 products per account

Explore the incredible Malham Cove (where Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was filmed) and the waterfalls of Goredale Scar and Janet's Foss, situated deep in the Yorkshire Dales. One of our most popular GOGA walks - this is a must-do for your time in Leeds.

Malham Cove, one of the most famous wonders of the Yorkshire Dales, is a huge curving amphitheatre-shaped cliff formation of limestone rock. It was formed by a waterfall carrying meltwater from glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age more than 12,000 years ago

Interesting fact: The intricate limestone pavements may look strangely familiar - they featured in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. Harry & Hermione set up camp on the top of Malham Cove and scenes from the film feature views across Malhamdale and down to Malham Village.

Goredale Scar is a limestone ravine. It contains two spectacular waterfalls and has overhanging limestone cliffs over 100 metres high.

There will be two walking route options- a shorter route for people who wish to spend more time in Malham and a longer walk for those wishing to explore further.  Please note that the length of time to explore Malham will depend on which route option you pick.

We will depart by coach from the Parkinson Steps at 8.30 returning at approximately 17:30. You will need good outdoor walking shoes or strong trainers (you don’t mind getting muddy) plus a layer of waterproof clothing. You will also need a change of footwear for after the walk, and a bag for you muddy shoes/boots.
