Get Out Get Active guided walking trip to Ambleside in the Lake District Sunday 20th October 2024

Join us for a walking trip to Ambleside, located in the picturesque Lake District National Park. Ambleside sits at the northern point of Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England.

Ambleside is based in the world-famous Lake District, home to lovely landscapes, rolling hills and beautiful views. It is famed as the home of William Wordsworth and the inspiration for many of the great Lakes Poets, it is one of the jewels of the English countryside. 

The trip will offer two guided walking options. There will be a shorter walk for those wanting to experience the views, and a longer walk for those looking to explore further in this beautiful setting. Both walks will take you up and away from the lake and into the surrounding countryside.

After exploring the varied terrain, we will lead you back to Ambleside where you will have some free time to explore some of the shops and cafes that the Cumbrian town has to offer. Please note that the length of time to explore Ambleside will depend on which route option you pick.

Get Out Get Active Guided Walk - Llandudno in Wales Sunday 13th October 2024

Come with Get Out Get Active and explore the spectacular Great Orme limestone headland and the Welsh coastal resort of Llandudno.

The Great Orme is a massive limestone headland on the north coast of Wales, north-west of the town of Llandudno. Referred to as Cyngreawdr Fynydd by the 12th-century poet Gwalchmai ap Meilyr, its English name derives from the Old Norse word for sea serpent.

There will be two walking route options- a shorter route for people who wish to spend more time in Llandudno town and a longer walk for those wishing to explore further.  Please note that the length of time to explore Llandudno will depend on which route option you pick.

We will depart by coach from the Parkinson Steps at 08:00 returning at approximately 18:30. You will need good outdoor walking shoes or strong trainers (you don’t mind getting muddy) plus a layer of waterproof clothing. You will also need a change of footwear for after the walk, and a bag for you muddy shoes/boots.

Get Out Get Active Guided walking trip to Bakewell and Chatsworth Saturday 12th October 2024

Join Get Out Get Active on a walk from the picturesque Peak District town of Bakewell to the magnificent stately estate of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire - Chatsworth House, famous as the inspiration of Pride and Prejudice.

Starting from near Chatsworth House, we will set off walking through the Derbyshire Peak District to Chatsworth Estate stopping regularly to appreciate the views and points of interest. The route will take you to the entrance of Chatsworth House and into the grounds of the estate as the large mansion, famous as a filming location for films and programmes such as Pride and Prejudice and Peaky Blinders, creates an impressive sight in this beautiful landscape. 

We will have some time to explore some of the 1000 acre parkland or have a snack or drink.

We will then walk into the stunning town of Bakewell, home of the world famous pudding, where participants will be able to enjoy some free-time exploring the town before departing back to Leeds.

*Please note this trip will take you into the stunning grounds of the Chatsworth Estate but does not include access to the gardens or the house itself due to the high cost to access these areas and time restraints.*

You will need a packed lunch and drink. We would like to emphasise the need for good outdoor walking shoes or boots plus waterproof clothing. Please bring food for during the walk.

Join Get Out Get Active exploring the beautiful countryside around Keswick in the Lake District.

Keswick is an ancient market town in the north of the Lake District National Park, on the shores of Derwentwater, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, mountains and lakes.

Keswick is situated in the north of Derwentwater lake and is often referred to as the “Adventure Capital of the Lake District”. This walkers’ paradise is surrounded by picturesque valleys as well as 1,200 acres of crystal-clear water. 

After exploring the varied terrain, we will lead you back to Keswick where you will have some free time to explore some of the shops and cafes that the Cumbrian town has to offer.

Important note: This can be a more strenuous walk with some steep sections along rough mountain paths after the lake. You will need good outdoor walking shoes or strong trainers (you don’t mind getting muddy) plus a layer of waterproof clothing. You will also need a spare pair of shoes for after the walk, and a bag for your muddy boots/trainers.
