Welcome to LAMMPS (Leeds Amateur Medics Music and Performance Society), winners of best LUU Music and Performance Society 2025. 

We run musical and performance activities designed for healthcare students with a demanding course loads and busy placement schedules. We are open to all LUU students regardless of experience or ability, but particularly those whose demanding workloads mean that they may struggle with the commitments required by other LUU societies.

LAMMPS runs as 3 different strands, each with their own specialty and activities:

You can be involved with as many or as few of our strands as you like!
 

Show Strand

Our show strand performs a fabulous musical in March each year, so if you love singing, dancing and acting, this is the society for you!

LAMMPS is thrilled to announce our 2025/2026 show is 'The Little Mermaid'!!

Auditions are on the 28th Oct/1st Nov! Make sure to follow us on social media so you don’t miss out!

We typically rehearse on Tuesdays 7-10:30PM and Saturdays 10-4
 

Dance Strand

LAMMPS Dance is a fun, friendly and fab-u-lous strand devoted exclusively to dance. We welcome all personalities with a variety of dance experience. In other words, don’t worry if you’re a beginner, come join us!

In our weekly LAMMPS Dance classes, we focus on dancing to big, bold musical theatre numbers, with an emphasis on conveying a story and our characters on stage.

We work towards 2-3 large dance performances a year and we also offer the opportunity to show off your dancing skills in the ensemble of the LAMMPS Show Strand annual musical.

We typically rehearse on Thursdays, 8-10:30 PM in Scarlet Studio

Choir Strand

Our choir strand (The Ultrasounds) runs a weekly rehearsal every Monday 8-10pm, usually with a break for snacks and a pub trip afterwards!

It’s a perfect place to chill with other students, unwind after uni or placement and sing some great tunes. We welcome singers of all experience levels, whether you can sight read perfectly or you’ve never sung a note in public before.

Socials

LAMMPS run regular drinking and non-drinking socials throughout the year.

Our previous socials have included a Fridge2Fridge, a Crossroads social, LAMMPS Taskmaster and many more!

We also run a LAMMPS Tour, where we get a coach to another city, watch a musical and have an unforgettable night out!

Membership

Standard Student membership and associate membership is just £8 for the whole year!

This includes free weekly dance classes, the ability to join our choir, an opportunity to be in the annual musical, as well as discounts to our shows and fundraisers throughout the year!
