Orienteering & Fell Running (Leeds University Union Orienteering Club).
Orienteering is an exciting and challenging outdoor sport that exercises both mind and body.
The aim is to navigate between control points marked on a map; as a competitive sport the challenge is to complete the course in the quickest time choosing your own best route; as a recreational activity it does not matter how young, old or fit you are, as you can run or walk making progress at your own pace on the courses planned to suit you.
Fell Running is the exciting sport of running over hills and off-road terrain. It has the same pace and excitement of orienteering, but with more physical pain and less confused head-scratching when you get lost!
City, forest or moor, not to mention the rain, snow, wind and sunshine, orienteering can prove to be a challenge for your mind and muscles…
History of LUUOC
LUUOC (Leeds University Union Orienteering and Fell Running Club) is now entering its seventh year. With recent successes including our club tour to Sweden, good results at BUCS 2017, a fantastic Give it a Go (nominated for Best Event at the Riley Awards) and organisation of BUCS 2014 in Leeds (winner of Best Event at the Riley Awards).
We run regular training in and around Leeds. We travel to local club events on Wednesday evenings and at weekends. This is a mixture of navigation and fitness training. We attend Fell Races at weekends and organise regular group runs. Our sessions cater for everyone from those still getting to grips with the sport to elite athletes (or so we like to think).
Become a member for just £5 (includes British Orienteering affiliation). Membership runs for one academic year. All our training and events in Leeds are FREE to members.
