Join us for a ‘Psychological First Aid in the Mountains’ session on the 15th November at 6pm, ran by Dr. Anthony Page- a consultant psychiatrist affiliated with the Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team.
This session will look at how participants might respond if they came across or were involved in an incident- looking after friends/family/witnesses/bystanders using a Connect Assess Intervene Transfer model, relating this to the standard outdoor first aid primary survey and looking at possible interventions to stabilise people in distress. The idea here is to give people tools to help stabilise emotional upset to a degree that would enable friends/family/witnesses/bystanders to get off the hill safely, with support, or until mountain rescue arrived and could take over.
