Introduction

What is BJJ?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling based martial art revolving around takedowns (tackles, throws etc) and ground fighting. There is no striking (e.g. punching and kicking), matches are won through submission (choke, strangle, joint lock etc).

BJJ is becoming increasingly popular in MMA, with many fighters utilising it effectively at the highest levels in the UFC.

Why train BJJ?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a great choice for anyone wanting to get started in martial arts for the first time. Its emphasis on technique means that men and women of different shapes and sizes with different athletic abilities can compete as equals. Its highly effective style has made it increasingly popular in MMA fighting and among all martial artists looking to improve and develop.
