Welcome to Spanish, Latin American and Portuguese Society (SLAPSOC)

Hola, bienvenido, bem-vindo, and benvinguda to LUU's society for all things Spanish, Latin American and Portuguese!

What is SLAPsoc?

SLAPsoc is a student-led society at the University of Leeds, bringing together students who share a love for Spanish, Latin American & Portuguese languages and cultures! 

We give students the chance to connect, make friends and have fun through a wide range of social events, activities, sports, trips and MORE throughout the year. We pride ourselves on community, inclusivity, and diversity – there is something for everyone!

Who can join?

The simple answer – anyone! 

Whether you're: 

  • Fluent in a language, learning one, or want to start learning a language
  • Studying a language, cultural, international, or related degree
  • Looking for a community connected by your culture, interested in Hispanic cultures, or eager to explore new ones
  • A student from the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures or an international or ERASMUS student
  • Looking for a society where you can meet new people, try new things, have fun experiences, make friends, and create amazing memories
