Formation Description

We want to start the Afro-Francophone Society because there is currently no dedicated space at the university that represents or connects French-speaking African students. Many Francophone students often find themselves divided between different communities, and we recognised the need for a society that brings together those who share similar languages, cultures, and experiences.

Our aim is to bridge that gap and create a community where students can feel understood, supported, and proud of their identity. The society will provide a wide range of benefits and opportunities for its members. It will serve as a space for networking and friendship, helping students meet others from similar backgrounds and form both personal and professional connections. Through events, workshops, and collaborations, members will develop valuable communication, leadership, and organisational skills, while also deepening their understanding of Francophone African culture and its global influence.

This society will also allow students to reconnect with their roots through activities such as language learning, sharing traditional foods, and discussing important cultural and social topics. It will promote cultural awareness and inclusion, welcoming non-Francophone students who wish to learn more about the history, diversity, and richness of French-speaking African countries.

By establishing the Afro-Francophone Society, we hope to create a lasting and positive community on campus that celebrates diversity, empowers students to embrace their identity, and builds unity through culture, language, and shared experiences.
