I would like to start this society because, while the University of Leeds offers institutional support for pregnant or parenting students, there is currently no student-led group focused on life-affirming ethics, bioethical discussion, and peer support related to crisis pregnancy and end-of-life issues. I believe a society like this would fill a meaningful gap. The society will provide a safe, respectful space for students to explore all these issues, with all peer support limited to signposting professional services rather than counselling or medical advice.

Through guest talks, small workshops, awareness projects, and learning from similar groups at other universities, the society will give students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of these issues, develop practical skills, and be part of a welcoming community. It will also foster moral and philosophical discussion in an peer-led environment, bringing together students from different backgrounds to engage respectfully with topics that matter to them. All activities will be conducted in line with University of Leeds Students’ Union policies.
