The recent global interest in Korean culture including music (K-pop), fashion and beauty has seen the general public gravitating towards Korea film industry. Lately, there has been an increase in the interest in the Korean film industry (mostly the dramas and movies) within the general public worldwide including the UK as a result of the ‘Hallyu wave’ alongside the performance of Korean movies in international award shows. For example, in the recent times the astonishing performance of the Korean movie 'Parasite' in Cannes international film festival and the Academy Awards (Oscars) has definitely propelled the success of Korean film industry globally.

Hence, I would like to start the K-Drama society to increase the awareness of the outstanding performance of the Korean film industry together with sharing and celebrating the outstanding cinematography, performances by the actors, and increase my fellow student fellow awareness to Korean culture through viewing the ever evolving Korean culture from past historical events to modern-day changes with individuals open to exploring other cultures outside the British Culture while studying at the University of Leeds in the UK.

The society will involve members watching the latest K-drama, discussing films and K-dramas contributions and/or influence to the general society alongside having social gathering to enhance the members experience at the University of Leeds.
