Formation Description
We want to restart the Product Design Society to rebuild a sense of community within the course and create opportunities that extend beyond academic modules. As a niche subject, Product Design students often have specific creative and professional needs that aren’t fully met by broader societies like Mechanical Engineering, so having our own dedicated group is essential. Reforming this long-standing society allows us to:
- Connect all year groups, promoting mentorship and peer support.
- Host placement talks from Level 4 students, providing insights into jobs and future pathways.
- Encourage networking, helping students form valuable connections within and beyond university.
- Support personal and academic growth, sharing resources, managing workload, and building confidence in such an intensive course.
- Explore design beyond modules, from museum visits to creative workshops, made accessible through society funding.
- Celebrate creativity, giving members a platform to share skills, showcase work, and explore different design areas.
By reforming the Product Design Society, we hope to create a lasting and supportive environment that enhances the university experience for all Product Design students.
