Formation Description
We believe that there no longer is a society that represents the students studying Russian here. We have no space to share our academic tips and tricks to one another, and there is no way to be in contact with each other and socialise. We hope to make better links and relationships throughout the year groups and the staff so we are able to form our community. There is little cultural awareness as well, so we hope to improve that. SLAVSoc no longer has any students of Russian as part of the committee and is populated more by native speakers of Russian than students of Russian. Therefore, we would create a network of alumni, students, and staff that work to help one another in their journey through Russian Studies, whether that be through careers advice or language help. Our cultural events will also raise awareness and be a fun opportunity to share experiences and knowledge.
