There are more than 40 current Cheveners at the University of Leeds. Coming from over 10 different countries around the world such as Peru, Uganda, Jamaica, India, Nigeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen, Mexico, and Pakistan amongst many others, we can create a rich cultural society. We are also coming from different academic and professional backgrounds and pursuing a variety of postgraduate programs in different schools; arts, business, law, engineering, social studies, etc, this would help us in organising many academic and professional events and activities.

Being awarded the Chevening Scholarship and starting our journey in the UK is not the end of the road for us, we would like to give back and contribute to the growth and strength of the Chevening network by talking about the prestigious scholarship and the educational system in the UK, organising networking and speaker events, and encouraging people into applying. We would also want to make the most out of our time in Leeds and the Uk and connect with people from all over the world through socials, events, activities and trips around the UK to get to know more about the UK culture. Furthermore, forming a society under the Union would also help us to support each other in a more organised and sustainable way.

In conclusion, all of the above opportunities would complement our academic programmes, increase our exposure to UK culture, and help others get to know our different cultures. It will also give us a chance to network with students, staff, and organisations while also helping us and others capitalise on the incredible global network available at the University of Leeds.
