Formation Description

The idea: Provide them with opportunities to socialise, share cultures and feel at home with our events. The ambition of the society: - To share the Taiwanese culture to those who are not familiar or those that are interested - To allow Taiwanese students to feel at home from coming to our events and ensures that they have a great time at the University of Leeds 2-3 objectives of the society: - Create an inclusive environment for members in the Taiwanese Society to help them adapt to the new environment when arriving in Leeds and throughout the year. - Provide support in case of emergencies and offer information in assisting with members living and studying in Leeds. - Introduce and promote Taiwanese culture to members and non-members to create a more culturally inclusive environment in the University of Leeds. The types of activities we would like to run - Welcome dinner at the beginning of each academic year to welcome the new students and allow them to know who the committees are and thus who to seek help from. This is also a great opportunity for them to socialise and make new friends - Career talks: we will invite alumnis who are currently working in the UK to provide insights on their job searching journey as well as tips for interviews. They will also share their experiences and the culture of working in the UK - Christmas dinner: Give our members the opportunity of celebrating this festive day and have an memorable memory from studying abroad since it is not as big of a celebration back in Taiwan - Language exchange: we will collaborate with other LUU culture societies where members can learn about another culture and socialise with people outside the Taiwanese Society - Sports event: we will hold sports events with other Taiwanese societies from other universities, such as Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield. - Lunar New Year Dinner: Lunar New Year is a big thing in our culture, therefore we would love to let those who aren't able to go home to eat with their families to have a place to share meals and feel that they are no alone. Your availability to attend a formation workshop/meeting We have 10 committee members therefore we will definitely have people being able to attend the formation workshop/meeting (although it might not be everyone). Those that aren't able to attend will be caught up with what was shared during these workshops/meetings. Anything else of interest or to consider N/A
