Formation Description

Leeds Rotaract society is very unique as it provides students with an opportunity to volunteer and fundraise with a diverse range of Leeds residents, as well as other students. The Club will also be able to work with other Rotaract Clubs on national projects and engage with the Rotary Clubs in Leeds, demonstrating the intergenerational benefits that the Rotaract Club will have. Currently, we have a tree planting volunteering event planned with the Headingley Rotary Club. Rotaract also provides opportunities for members to volunteer abroad, and network with other Rotaract members globally.

The aim of becoming an LUU society is to reach as many people as possible and encourage students to not only volunteer and fundraise but build positive relations with other members of the local community. The Leeds Rotaract Club will be able to work with Residence Life and other University groups to encourage people to become Rotaract members or take part in events. Creating this society will ensure that the powerful and important work of Rotaract is recognised and takes place for many years in Leeds.

As well as this, the creation of the Leeds Rotaract society will help international students to settle in better whilst studying in Leeds as Rotaract is an international charity with a wide membership basis in other countries. Therefore, Leeds Rotaract will provide students with something recognisable after arriving in Leeds and allow international students to continue to be a part of Rotaract.
