Hello Wildlings!

We are very excited to announce Our Term 2 Weekend Away to the beautiful Eryri National Park in Wales!

This is sure to be an awesome weekend packed with hiking and exciting wilderness scenarios!

Where: Eryri National Park. Staying at the gorgeous Watkin Bunkhouse in Beddgelert, Gwynedd.

When: Leaving Leeds 5pm on Friday 28th March, returning to Leeds around 8pm on Sunday 30th March.

Cost: £55pp which includes transport, accommodation and food (3x meals Saturday, 2x meals Sunday, plus lots of tea and snacks!)

As the year progresses, the knowledge and skills required for scenarios will to. Plans for this trip are being finalized but will require decent knowledge of how to do an A-E assessment and some knowledge of medical management and prior experience using our kit.

TO COME ON THIS TRIP, YOU MUST HAVE ATTENDED AT LEAST ONE PREVIOUS TRIP OR TEACHING SESSION

If you do not meet these criteria but think you still have the above prerequisite skills, please get in touch and we can discuss whether you are able to join us.

>> Tickets will be on sale from 6pm (18:00) on Friday 7th March

>> Please fill out this form AFTER you have purchased a ticket. Completion of the form is mandatory before we go away: https://forms.gle/RZNkru7VYZFVxPiB9

KIT LIST

Every time we go to Snowdonia, the weather is predictably Welsh. For the uninitiated, this means WET WET WET and the terrain is a lot less forgiving than in the Yorkshire Dales. This will not stop us from venturing into the outdoors. This means it is essential to have EVERYTHING on the kit list to avoid becoming a wilderness medicine casualty yourself! If you don't have any kit, ask around your friends or drop us a message and we may be able to help source something to borrow!

  • Appropriate warm clothing for hiking, with a spare change of clothes
  • Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers
  • Sturdy hiking footwear - boots or walking shoes preferable (no pumps, converse, trainers with poor grip)
  • Sleeping bag and pillow for the bunkhouse
  • Warm hat and gloves
  • Casual clothes for travelling/ the bunkhouse
  • Swimming Costume (optional, for if we find a nice wild swimming spot)
  • Water bottles, 1L minimum
  • Tupperware for lunch & extra walking snacks
  • Rucksack
  • Black bin bag (or dry bags if you have them)
  • Personal wash-kit and towel
  • Sun protection and sunglasses (if you're feeling optimistic)
  • Head-torch (preferably waterproof)
  • Cash/ID (we will be stopping to get dinner en route)
  • Evening beverages (Do with that what you will)

OTHER INFO

There will be a mandatory kit check of footwear and waterproofs before we go away. If you have not been on a weekend away before (GIAG/day hikes don't count) please send a picture of the above items in bold to our instagram (@wildernessmdleeds). There will be an email reminder and there is a box to tick on the form to confirm that you have completed the kit check or are exempt. If you have been on a weekend away before, then you can skip this step. We will also need to collect some information in advance of the trip, to enable us to complete the relevant paperwork with LUU. Please keep an eye on your emails to ensure you do not miss this information, as you will not be able to come on the trip if these steps aren't followed.

Also please note that unlike last term's trip, this bunkhouse is in the middle of the national park, so no nearby shops or pubs. If you want anything extra you'll need to make sure you bring it with you. We'd encourage you to consider whether you may wish to purchase these when we stop for dinner so that the cars aren't rammed for the first few hours of the journey.

Details about departure time and location will be emailed to the address linked to your LUU engage account the week before the trip.

**Stay tuned as we will add some more details of activities and additional things required closer to the time**

If you have any questions please get in touch with committee by email or message us.

Looking forward to a great weekend away, see you all there!

Wilderness Love  :)
