We are super excited to announce our first weekend away to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, our local National Park. We'll be staying at a bunkhouse in Wensleydale for a weekend of hiking, wilderness medicine antics and wholesome fun!

Friday 17th: Travel from Leeds to Wensleydale and chill evening 

Saturday 18th: It wouldn't be a wilderness weekend away without a decent hike! Expect about 10 miles of moderate-to-challenging hiking and, fingers crossed, some stunning views. Suitable hiking clothing, shoes and waterproof top and bottoms essential (see kit list). This will be followed by a big hearty meal, trip to the local pub and games evening (obligatory cardboard box game)!

Sunday 19th: We'll be putting you through your paces with some challenging wilderness medicine scenarios out on the hill, before heading back to Leeds in the evening.

Cost: only £35pp! This includes transport too and from Leeds, two nights accommodation, breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and a meal on Saturday night. Plus lots of biscuits and tea!

Kit - the weather in mid November can be wintery, we may have rain, sleet and snow! It is therefore really important to have everything on the kit list to avoid becoming a wilderness medicine casualty yourself! If you don't have any kit, ask around your friends or drop us a message and we may be able to help source something to borrow!

• Warm clothing for hiking and a spare pair of everything !
• Clothes for travelling/ the bunkhouse 
• Warm hat and gloves 
• Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers 
• Sturdy hiking footwear - boots or walking shoes preferable (no pumps, converse, trainers with poor grip)
• Water bottles, 1L minimum
• Tupperware for lunch 
• Rucksack 
• Black bin bag (or dry bags if you have them)
• Personal wash-kit and towel 
• Headtorch (if you have one)

There will be a mandatory kit check of footwear and waterproofs on the evening of Monday 13th November, details will be sent once you've purchased a ticket. Please let committee know if you can't attend and we will arrange a video call to check kit. 

Details about departure time and location will be emailed to the address linked to your LUU engage account the week before the trip/ discussed at the kit check meeting.
