Group Leeds Computing Society (CompSoc)
Venue Sir William Henry Bragg Building 2.15
Starts Sat 18 Oct 10:00AM
End Sat 18 Oct 4:30PM

The University of Leeds is hosting the UK and Ireland Programming Contest (one of the subregional competitions for the International Collegiate Programming Contest), where you can compete for a chance to go to Germany for the NWERC (Northwestern Europe European Regional Contest)!

Date and time: Saturday 18th October, 10:00am
Location: Room 2.15, Sir William Henry Bragg Building

Key information and eligibility

  • Teams must be formed of maximum 3 people. It is a huge disadvantage to not have a full team, so make sure you have 3 people - if you do not have a team or have a team of 2, please see below.
  • Registration closes at 23:59 on Monday 13th October. You must have your team registered before then, otherwise you will not be able to compete.
  • Any University of Leeds student can register and compete in the UKIEPC.
  • Only students eligible for the ICPC can participate in the NWERC (the regional finals), so if your team wins the UKIEPC in Leeds but one or more members are not eligible for the ICPC, your team will unfortunately not be able to progress to the NWERC.
    • To go to NWERC, all students in the team must have been born in 2002 or later, or have first started post-secondary education in 2021 or later.
    • For more eligibility information, visit https://icpc.global/regionals/rules.

Registration instructions for a team

1. Each team member should go to https://icpc.global/register and create an account.
2. Decide who in the team will be the team captain. The team captain should go to https://icpc.global/regionals/finder/UKIEPC-2026 and press ‘Register’ on the right-hand menu.
3. Select ‘University of Leeds’ as the location.
4. On the next page, tick the box next to ‘I will participate as both contestant and coach’. Think of a team name and type it into the ‘Team 1 name’ box, then type in the names of your two team-mates in the two ‘Find person’ boxes. As they should have accounts, their account details should appear and allow you to select them. You do not need to type in your own name, as registering the team automatically adds you to the team.
5. Select the box agreeing to the contest terms and conditions and press ‘Submit’.

If you do not have a team or are looking for an extra teammate

  • Try to find yourself a team using the Leeds Computing Society Discord/WhatsApp communities, or by coming to one of our socials.
  • If you still cannot find a team, fill out this form by 23:59 on Sunday 12th October. I will match people that have emailed me into teams by midday on Monday and email you with the names of your teammates - you will then need to decide a team captain and team name, and register yourselves.
