Hi everyone! My name is Amber and I will be applying for the role of treasurer.

I am currently a 1st year Philosophy, Politics and Economics student and I have had experience with using Excel within my degree, along with mathematics and statistics. Maths has also surrounded me from an early age, and with two maths teachers as parents, I am very comfortable with numbers and managing finances. My experience as a house ambassador at school has given me integral skills and experience working in a team to organise fundraising events, deliver assemblies and supporting students from all year groups.

I would consider myself a friendly and approachable person, so I believe I would be a good representative of the society, reflecting the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere of philsoc. I would love the opportunity to give back to the society that has been such an integral part of my first-year experience and continue the amazing standard that the current committee has set. Philsoc has truly deepened my love and passion for philosophy, so if elected as treasurer, I would work to support the long-term growth of the society.

If philosophy teaches us anything, it’s that everything must be questioned—except, perhaps, me being the best choice as treasurer for this society.

Philosophy society has become the highlight of my week, although I did initially go for the wine and cheese. I am organised and trustworthy as well as a good communicator, I am also my mum’s favorite child, which, trust me, says a lot about my responsibility.

My leadership and discipline experience as a prefect and music scholar, along with responsibilities such as fundraising and addressing student queries, have given me a strong understanding of what people need. These skills make me well-suited to managing the society’s finances efficiently and transparently.
And most importantly, I really care about philosophy society and would make sure that it thrives whilst I am part of the committee.
