Hi philosophers! My names Renae, I’m a 2nd year Philosophy and Politics student, and I’m running to be your next social sec!

I became a member of PhilSoc at the beginning of this year, and I can honestly say that this society has made campus feel more like home for me. I would love to be your social sec, not only because of my love for event organising (and wine and cheese, can’t forget that), but because I’d love to give back to a society that’s made my uni experience all the better. As your social sec I would work closely with the committee and all of you to bring new creative and fun social ideas to life! 3

Hey friends! My name is Lydia (she/her) and I’m running for social secretary because the role combines two of my greatest strengths: social skills and the ability to have fun!

Philsoc has been such a central part of my first year here in Leeds. It is where I’ve met friends for life, questioned concepts and theories during the wine and cheese talks, laughed until I’ve cried at the social events, and put myself out there at the open mic nights!

Frankly, it would be an honour to be a part of the philsoc committee as I have attended 99% of the society’s events this year and am ready to represent the society formally now (especially as I have recommended this society to pretty much everyone I know!)

The role of social secretary is one I will take seriously as I recognise the responsibility of organising the society’s events. That said, I will have so much fun getting creative and turning people’s suggestions into reality! During sixth form, I ran the environmental club and successfully organised weekly events both on and off campus. Thanks to this experience, I have confidence in both my communicative and creative skills which are well suited for this role.
