As an active participant in social and political feminist discourse I believe that welfare is very important. Working together and ensuring that everyone is comfortable is a priority of FemSoc.

Feminism has always been an integral part of my upbringing. From a young age my mum implemented strong values and female empowerment within our home. Being the 'breadwinner' of our family proved this empowerment but also showed 6 year old me that my mum was a feminist superhero. Creating a career from nothing in a male-dominated workplace during the early 90's was not the first or last time my mum didn't let gender stop her. This most influential woman in my life has driven me to chase my dream degree, pushes me everyday to work hard for my dream therapist job and shows me how womanhood is based in power rather than weakness. My psychology and philosophy degree has shown me that not only is identity important but so is support. I have a passion for helping people solve their issues whether it is my friend on a tuesday picking their outfit for dvotion or a stranger seeking help from another stranger. I have learnt that at the core of supplying any help is active listening and implimenting schemes such as an 'open-box' is an example of something I would be passionate in making a reality! This would be where individuals can leave notes in boxes around university on any problem they're facing and at the end of the week we go through them and could hold an open night for people to talk about these problems further, offer up advice or in general have a safe space to talk a little bit more about them. This is just one idea I have around making a difference in the feminist society so please consider me for this role and I would love to make more of them a reality!
