---VOTE CAITLIN FOR YOUR SOCIAL SECRETARY!---

For those who don’t know me, I am Caitlin Forster, currently a second year History student and in Inter Tap and Jazz, plus the competition team. I am from Lancashire and hoping to bring my Northern charm to the role of Social Secretary! I am an organised individual who also loves a good social, which is why I believe I am perfect for the job!

Building on the great work this year’s Social Secs have done, I have highlighted the initiatives and roles I will undertake if you were to elect me as your Social Sec:

Socials are a great way to blow off steam after dance classes and stressful lectures, and the best way to bring such a big society together. Therefore, I am proposing weekly socials, alternating between Wednesday socials, and introducing more sober events, such as days out and different activities. For some, Modern Dance is the only society people are a member of, so I believe it is important to hold a variety of socials regularly to ensure everyone can build upon friendships made in dance class, or meet people from different classes.

I will communicate with other societies to organise joint socials to build relations with people outside our dance bubble, and to maintain a good social and working reputation within Leeds University Union.

In the light of the ‘Reclaim the Night’ and ‘Girls Night In’ campaigns, a big priority of mine is to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe on nights out. I will be a point of contact for members on socials who need help and urge anyone who is stuck for lifts to contact me, and I will find a safe and efficient way to get you to venues or home.

I understand the Uni lifestyle can be a big strain on people’s bank accounts, therefore I aim to make sure every social is reasonably priced by liaising with club reps and businesses to make sure our society get the best deals, while still making sure every social is enjoyable.
I will make sure each social theme is easy and affordable to dress for, while offering help and inspiration to those who may be struggling for outfits.

I believe that the role of Social Sec goes further than planning socials. I will be a friendly face that people can approach during dance classes and around campus. My main priority is to make sure that everyone, especially freshers, feel included within the society and will encourage returners to make everyone feel welcome within both classes and socials.

It would be a privilege to be elected as Social Secretary for such an amazing society and I hope you all consider me for this role!

Hi guys, I’m maia. Next year will be my 4th year with modern, which is why I’d love to join committee as social sec! I’ve been in inter jazz comp for the past 3 years now and I’m in inter tap and jazz classes. I think I’d be a fab social sec, as for starts, I can’t say no to a mischief or fruity (which is a necessity for this role). Even on the weeks there’s no social, you’ll see me looking for a mischief ticket on LSG (so a black card would be a great perk for my bank account!!).

I want newcomers into modern to feel like a part of the society from the get go. I’ve had such an amazing opportunity to meet and get to know a lot of people through this society and I want everyone to have the opportunity to make great friends like I have. To achieve this, I’d have socials at the start of the year focus on the freshers and having them integrate within returners so that they get to know everyone straight away.

I have some really fun ideas to mix up pres to keep them interesting, whilst staying on a student budget. Activities and games which will work for large groups so that we’re not waiting around, but we still get drunk enough for mischief! Some of these could be pub golf, où est le poulet, scavenger hunts and bottomless bucket cocktail nights! I’ve got some themes that I’m sure you’d all love and let’s not to forget that I have some sweet connections in rugby, surf, basketball and cricket for some joint socials.

I’ve also got some good non-alcoholic socials up my sleeve for those who aren’t a massive fan of being shoved around at warehouse on a Wednesday. Activities like ihop, bowling and pottery painting are just a few sober activities that we can do where you get the chance to talk to new people and make friends (and actually remember it the next morning). I’d like to listen more to the members of modern so they can suggest any themes, activities or clubbing nights that they think would be fun.

I would really love the opportunity to be social sec for this society as this is by far my favourite society that I have joined since starting university. I want to have the chance to really get involved and arrange some great days/nights out that we will never forget! I work really well with others so whoever I’m paired up with, I’m positive that we will collaborate well to come up with some fun new social ideas.

Bonus of voting for me is that my house next year will most definitely be offered up for pres!! :)
