Lyrical and Contemporary Rep

Hey everyone, my names Amelia and I will be going into my third year studying sport and exercise science. I have danced since the age of three taking part in competitions as well as travelling most weekends for associated courses so can definitely say dance has been my life. I trained in everything, ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz. My mum couldn’t keep me away from the studio! When coming to Leeds I knew I had to carry on and modern dance just seemed like the perfect fit! Lyrical has always been one of my favourite genres as it allows you to be more expressive, showing emotions while also keeping up good technique. I believe I’m a very approachable person and so would be a good point of contact for anybody in either lyrical or contemporary should they have any queries. When I first joined modern dance, I remember how nervous I was to go to my first class however all the girls were so lovely and welcoming. As lyrical and contemporary rep I would hope to be a familiar and warm face in classes. I also want to show any new members how rewarding being part of this society can be and ensure everyone has the opportunity to take part and enjoy the love of dance which I’ve had since a young age. I’m always down for a social and a drink and look forward to getting to know everyone more. I can’t wait to spend another year as part of modern dance and hopefully I can do this as your lyrical and contemporary rep! x

Hi my name is Ellen and I am running to be your lyrical and contemporary rep. Next year I will be going into my second year studying Law. I have been dancing since the age of 4, originally starting in ballet before starting contemporary classes nearly 8 years ago. I fell in love with the dance style, and I knew being part of a dance society was going to be integral to my university experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a member of Modern Dance so far and I have found the classes a highlight of my week. I’m very proud to have been part of the competition team for this year, and very lucky to have danced alongside some very talented girls both on and off this team. As your rep I wish to be a friendly face in classes each week, and an encouraging member of the society in your contemporary classes, as well as giving any support needed to our lyrical dancers. I am organised and experienced in managing multiple responsibilities at once, and I am confident in my ability to fulfil this role, and to be the rep you need. I want to show any new members of our classes next year what a great and rewarding society Modern Dance is (as we all know how scary it can be at first!). I am very excited for what the next year holds, and I will see you all soon!
