My name is Kelsey, I am a first year biomedical sciences student.

I’m applying for this role as I want to make peoples time at uni memorable & fun. I hope through social events we can get to know each other and enhance everyone’s experience with the society! I’m willing to dedicate time to make your experience with the society the best it can be. I hope you all begin to love jiujitsu the way I do!

I’d like to say I’m enthusiastic, approachable, inclusive, organised and informative. As social sec I will send out a poll to the WhatsApp to gain a better understanding of people’s interests and to accommodate for everyone😊 I have a couple ideas such as watching events together but I’d love to hear your guys ideas.

I’m usually always at training if you ever need to ask any questions - I did however miss the sign up sheet this week which I’m very sad about 🥲

Overall, I just want people to have the best time with the society and build connections.
Our time at uni will fly by let’s enjoy it and make the most of it🥳

Hey everyone! Our names are Jess and Angel and we’re very excited to be running for the joint position of Social Secretary’s for UOL’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu society. Together we believe we can revive the social side of our community and help to foster a more inclusive and engaging atmosphere, where we can all form friendships that won’t be shattered when you suddenly find yourselves choking each other out on the mat.
Many of us have noticed that the social aspects of our club have become a bit stagnant lately, making it difficult to form connections with other members attending sessions. We’re passionate about transforming this by introducing fresh, engaging events that bring us all together. To do this, we propose introducing a suggestion page where all members can share their ideas for social events and activities. Whether it’s Taskmaster nights (if you don’t know, get to know), themed Otley runs, fitness challenges, or something as simple as nipping down to Old Bar after training!
I (Jess) am a third year Psychology student, currently pursuing a Year in Industry, so I’ve got plenty of time in the evenings to devote time and effort into conjuring up the best socials the BJJ society has seen 😉 As a psychology student, I understand the importance of social support and community so I’m passionate about fostering an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts. Meanwhile, Angel is a first year Graphic Design student here at Leeds so will bring her skills to the table, helping to transform the society’s Instagram pages (no offense Ash/Jacob) and create eye-catching promotions and engaging event materials that will draw everyone in.
Together, we can foster a vibrant social atmosphere that complements our training and strengthens our bonds as a team. Let’s make our BJJ community a place where everyone looks forward to hanging out, sharing experiences, and growing together.
