My name is Zahra Kazmi, and I’m a second year psychology student at the University of Leeds. I came across Absoc after my sister told me a hadith about the Prophet Muhammad SAW saying that 2 things were left behind for us, the Quran and the Ahlulbayt. Follow these, and we shall never be astray. I was also overwhelmed with emotion about hearing the treatment of Hazrat Fatima Zahra, who I was named after, to the point where I cried. That’s when I knew it was time to find this path.

I will start off by stating my skills and qualities which I think would make me a valuable member of Absoc.

My way of thinking is critical and independent. This is what led me to the path of Ahlulbayt. The debate of “sect” was a really longstanding one in my head, one which caused me a lot of anguish. I heard negative things about Shias and Sunnis from each other, but I decided, if loving the family of our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW makes me a Shia, then I’m satisfied.

I would say that I’m quite easy to work with. With this being said, I try to take a cooperative approach rather than stepping up as a leader because I try and incorporate what everyone has to say.

However, the quality I value the most within myself is kindness. I’d like to describe myself as a sensitive, empathetic individual, and these qualities will help me immerse myself fully into the lives of the Ahlulbayt, while also connecting with my fellow society members.

Of course, my knowledge of the Ahlulbayt is still in need of thriving, and I hope being part of the Absoc somehow will help me expand my understanding.

Honestly, I am not sure as to what role is suitable for me, which is why I’m presenting myself and leaving the choice in your hands.
