Hi everyone! My name is Jasmine and I would love to be your next LUUMS secretary! I am originally from Hong Kong, but I also lived in Switzerland for 4 years before my family and I moved to Milton Keynes. I am in my second year studying Music and Music Psychology and I play the flute, but you can more often hear me play piccolo in a practice room or in clothies:)
I am currently a part of SWO, Symphony Orchestra, and Sinfonia, however I also did some singing in Chorus and Symphonic Choir last year. I have been involved with LUUMS since I began studying in Leeds, and it has been the best experience to me, I have enjoyed many many fun, rewarding rehearsals and meeting lots of friendly faces! This year, I have the pleasure managing SWO, it has been such an incredible opportunity, and I enjoy taking on this role very much! Being a manager has enabled me to strengthen skills such as to have excellent organisation skills, being attentive to details, have good time management and to collaborate with others, which are all crucial skills needed in becoming a secretary. On the other hand, I also had the opportunity to work in the administration department during my 8-week internship in Hong Kong, where I developed my computer skills through completing many tasks on spreadsheets and power points, working in a busy environment where multiple lengthy works were assigned to me meant I am a reliable person, who can work effectively under pressure, and still be able to produce high quality work on time.
As a result, I hope to continue developing these skills to an even better level through this role. I would also love to continue contributing to LUUMS and getting to know more people who enjoys music making the way I do through being secretary!
