Hello everyone. I know you’re probably thinking… Emma! What are you doing running for committee when you’re graduating? Well guys, you can’t get rid of me that easily. I am excited to announce I have been accepted for a Masters! 🥳 And you all will have to deal with me for another year.
So, why would I be a good Station Manager?
As the current Head of Commercial, I’ve (now) raised over £1,000 for the society while leading multiple large-scale projects, including filming the RAG Fashion Show, the LUU Dance Competition, and SMS productions of Twelfth Night and 9 to 5. Through this, I’ve not only developed my leadership and organisational skills, but also focused on getting freshers involved, teaching new members how to use equipment, and bringing people into collaborative projects with other societies such as SMS, LSR, and FilmSoc. I strongly believe that cross-society collaboration is one of the most valuable things LSTV can offer, both creatively and socially.
I also created and developed the radio show LSTV MP3, turning it into a fun and accessible way for freshers to get involved, while also using it as a platform to promote student productions such as MaskTaster, Angels in Waiting, and BelleView. To me, promotion of our work is incredibly important, and something I want to expand on a much larger scale as Station Manager.
I cannot argue my case without mentioning being the current President of Her Campus. During my time in this role, I transformed a small and relatively unknown society into the award winning, LUU’s Best Media Society. We doubled our content output, tripled our finances, and built strong collaborations with other societies. I also introduced weekly newsroom-style meetings (very similar to general meetings), which helped create structure, consistency, and a strong sense of community. This experience has given me a clear understanding of how to run a society effectively, support a committee, and deliver real results.
Across my time in LSTV, I’ve been involved in a wide range of content, including commercial, live, news, sport, music and light entertainment. Therefore giving me a well-rounded understanding of what LSTV does and what it can become. Alongside this, I have proven as Head of Commercial that when it comes to the technical side of things, I can pick it up quickly, and I’m committed to continuing to learn and helping others to do the same.
My passion is with LSTV, and I would genuinely be honoured to take on the role of Station Manager. I don’t just want to keep the society running, I want to make it the best it can be.
Looking ahead, one of my main priorities is upholding the biweekly training sessions discussed in the AGM. I want to ensure that all members, especially freshers, feel confident using equipment and getting involved in productions. Alongside this, I want to expand collaboration even further by working with more societies across LUU, positioning LSTV as a central hub for creative student content.
Another key focus for me is growing our audience. I want to make better use of our social media platforms by increasing our output of short-form content, improving promotion, winning more awards and making LSTV’s work more visible and engaging. We produce so much great content, and I want to make sure it reaches as many people as possible!
Ultimately, I want to ensure that LSTV remains organised, inclusive, and ambitious. That means supporting the new committee, maintaining clear communication, and making sure everything from meetings to reports runs smoothly.
Thank you for reading, and if you’ll consider me, please vote for me! 😙💕✨
