Hey I’m Abbie, first year Biomedical Science Student and cricket fresher, now running to be your team captain for next year! I have played this amazing sport the past 8 years, from juniors to seniors, and from club to county. My love of the game and why I started actually came from a friend forcing me to go to practice with her in primary school so a big thanks to her!

Why me for captain you ask?

- I have plenty of leadership experience, from county captain, being in the gryphon leadership team as netball umpire, sixth form lead ambassador and team leader in my group projects

- I am a very friendly face so you are more than welcome to approach me if you ever need anything, whether that’s in the nets or on a Wednesday night when I’m reliving my fresher days next year

- I’m super reliable - always on time, putting in full effort in practice (I’m also that person who sorts everything out in team projects)

- I have great knowledge of the game, both on and off the field (probably from too many afternoons listening to test match special with my dad)

What do I want to do next year?

- I would love to be a part of our committee to help this amazing club grow and get more girls involved with the game, from new freshers to social members.

- Get more players involved in our BUCS team, including the indoor and outdoor league

- Work with the coaching team to make sure we get the most out of our sessions, with more drills and group suggestions, ready for the season

- Work with the committee to organise more events and sessions, including fitness and watching matches

Hello Ladies!
I am here to re-nominate myself as your first team captain for 2024/2025 season! I have been extremely lucky to be your captain for this past year, and I am excited to express why I am the ideal candidate for re-election...

- dedication to the club - taking on the role of two people has been a challenging and new experience for me this year. I have been extremely lucky to have had the help from my committee members who have had my back in this! I believe doing this role of two people has only increased my determination to bring success to the club. This year I have invested my time into creating connections with players, and I hope to only strengthen these relationships for the season next year! I am more dedicated than ever to continue adding value to players' experiences, training, fitness sessions, pre-season, and most importantly matches!!

- leadership - as your captain I believe I lead by example both on and off the field, by always ensuring that everyone involved in both physical and social aspects of the club feel comfortable and safe when doing so. I hope to encourage this further throughout the upcoming season, by creating a positive mental space so that our team can play our best!!!

- vision - my vision for the team for the upcoming season as well as going into new training next year, is to increase positive communication and morale, in order to disperse this onto the field during matches where we will create optimal and healthy competitiveness and success.

- what you should expect from me - this year I have not only proven to myself that I am suited for this role, but I believe I have proven to all of you as well. This club could not be more important to me, and I hope I have shown you that so far throughout my position on committee.
I am fully committed to this role and I would love nothing more than to carry this on for another year.
