Hello ladies, hope you’re all well !!

I’m honoured to be applying for the role of UOLWCC secretary for the 24/25 stint. Whilst I won’t be able to make an appearance at the AGM due to being so incredibly dedicated at catching babies (hopefully better than I am with cricket balls) on delivery suite, I hope this waffle will provide you all with enough insight as to why I’m suited for the job!

UOLWCC has been a huge part of my uni experience and I can’t imagine being in Leeds without it. Having been on committee this year as Tour & Media Sec, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Nia and Nina to gain some insight to the way the club runs whilst making the instagram aesthetically pleasing (big W). That being said, it’s the gorgeous atmosphere that the members bring that really makes it such a special club to be a part of. Having seen the club grow tremendously this year, I’d be working alongside India to maintain these numbers and provide opportunities such as 2nd BUCS performance team and at least monthly sober team bonding activities. A highlight of this year (& quite possibly the best weekend of my life) was the Cricket Ball with UOLMCC in February, which saw a record number of UOLWCC alumni appearances and is something I’m very excited to replicate in 24/25. As quite an organised and approachable individual, I think I’ll be well suited to this role supporting and encouraging everyone to get involved - not to mention my close friendship (co-dependence at a stretch) with India helping us be such a strong duo to lead UOLWCC.

I’m aware that a fair few of our numbers joined for the social side of things and I’m hoping to continue to encourage this by supporting the social secs with their Wednesday night antics as well as sober socials such as team bonding activities & encouraging people to get active through attending our beginners sessions/running (just launched the UOLWCC club on strava = huge news). As quite a sporty individual, I’m immensely proud of the girls and their dedication to the club this year in the indoor league, various charity tournaments and in their training for the Leeds Half.

Having just returned from tour in Porec with all 16 girls that set off from Leeds, it’s safe to say these girls grew incredibly close in our week away. Whilst we all had a blast with (a lot of) bevs in the sun, it’s the sense of belonging, friendship and unconditional empowerment that was the highlight of this trip for me which I hope will be able to stretch out to the new members of the club next year.
