Hi all,
I’d firstly like to thank you girls for making my uni experience so far. My mum can back me in saying I would have dropped out if I didn’t join UOLWCC.
I’m going to briefly be quite open now… I really struggled the first term of uni, like I understand many other students do too. My accommodation/flat situation isn’t great and that left me feeling quite isolated. Women’s cricket came to the rescue and provided me with an escape, a new group of people, fresh gorgeous faces, it gave me the freshers experience of going out and it gave me a sense of belonging.
I’d be so grateful to be your next Charity and Wellbeing Secretary and to give back to the club! Thank you for reading my nomination and considering me for this role.

Wellbeing / Welfare:
I’d love the opportunity to take on this role as I know from first hand experience how scary going to your first social may be and I want to provide that safe, welcoming, positive experience for you all. I want to be that point of call for everyone and to be the person you feel you can talk to as and when you may need. I understand that for lots of people, opening up and reaching out can be so difficult so I want to make it as easy as possible for you. I’d do this by always being there whether it’s a text message, phone call, a drink or a laugh. I believe I have the right qualities for this role; I’m approachable, I’m a great listener, I care about people and I’m a good communicator so if I can’t directly help you I’d be able to signpost you to the right person/service to talk to or I’d be able to get the answer for you. And… as a scouser it actually runs through my veins to be friendly (and cool obvs). Also with my background as a Nursing Student I feel like this is second nature for me and I can really appreciate the importance of having a brilliant Charity and Wellbeing Sec for the club! Your wellbeing matters to me, I’d like to liaise with the rest of the committee and come up with wellbeing and self-care activities for us to organise as a club. In doing this I feel it would bring us closer, enhance your experience and benefit you.

Charity
I love raising money for charity and I have done since my primary school days. I can’t lie I’m a sucker for a sob story.
As the clubs Charity Sec my goal is to raise as much money as possible for charities that mean a lot to you. I’d like to do that by getting to know you all and finding out if there are any charities in particular that mean something to you personally that we as a club could raise not only money for but also awareness around. I would work with the Social Media Secretary and help to promote charities.
My aim is to make fundraising as fun and as different as possible so that there is something everyone feels as though they can get involved in.
Because we all love Leeds so much (LIVE LAUGH LEEDS) I’d liaise with local charities to find out if we can help them.
You may have already seen, there are group of the cricket girls that are taking part in the Leeds Half Marathon (myself included). Wooo go girls! I have already started fundraising for this and I can assure you it will be the first of many fundraising events organised by myself. That being said if you’d like to take on the challenge too, you still have time just give me a message!

Whether or not you choose me to be your next Charity and Wellbeing Secretary I’d love to still be involved in any fundraising and I’ll still be here for you all!
