Hi ladies,

Firstly, I want to say thank you to committee for an insanely fun packed year being part of women’s cricket. If you had told me this time last year that women’s cricket would be my favourite society at university, I would not have believed you, but I have to say, it’s been one hell of a year.

As an avid member of cricket netball this year, I am delighted that committee have decided to create a netball sec to boost our incredible netball skills to the next level.

As the girls who’ve been part of cricket netball this year will know, our Tuesday matches are not one to be missed. They are a social, laid-back hour of exercise where we (most of the time) smash our opposition, even though we’ve had zero training sessions.

If I was able to take on this role, I would arrange weekly training sessions, so we can all have a bit more time to get to know how one another play and figure out some unreal tactics to continue our first semester winning streak (bar law, but that is going to change).

I think we’re all fab netballers, but we all know we could do with a bit of fine tuning. I am not saying I am the best netballer, or that I was blessed with the height genes. However, my two years at Surrey netball once upon a time, before god decided to leave me at 5’3 did teach me a thing or two about tactics and netball drills that I would love to try out with you guys. Even though I would love us to train and become a team to be reckoned with I want to maintain our laid back, happy go luck energy, as I really think that’s why we come back week after week as it is just such a warm welcoming team to be a part of, no matter your ability.

I am so passionate about this hour of netball a week, that I even emailed the timetabling people last year to get my seminar changed, claiming my mental health would struggle without my hour of netball as it was my only place to let out my anxiety and stress.

If I take on this role, I would love input from all of you girls as to how we go about training sessions and the future of our unreal cricket netballers. I will make sure we are organised each week and communicate with the appropriate people, to make sure we make the most out of each week’s games and practices.

I am so excited to see all of you play again, each one of you brings so much from Katie’s ten-foot jumps to Lauren and Poppy’s sweeping shots at goal, I can’t possibly name all of you talented ladies individually, but every single player adds positivity and talent to the team, and I am ready for us to show the other societies just how good we are.

I would be honoured to be netball sec next year and sign my third year off with a bang.

Hey Ladies,

Your fave goalkeeper (wanna be shooter) here saying how much I would like to be your netball sec next year.

Our Tuesday games; well organised by Chloe, quickly became a highlight of my week and another great day to be spent with you lovely lot filled with lots of fun and laughs mostly at me for missing shots under the post.

Whilst we already smash the competition most weeks, I would love to get some training sessions in for weekly so that we can finally smash LUBS, yes I am still mad we lost. As we all know my netballing career has been longer and more successful than my cricket career with beating DEVS two years in a row and winning the Friday leagues with SPSC.

My commitment to the team has been shown from me thinking I broke my foot (I was being dramatic it was just a sprain) to missing lectures for a game. But mostly from my excellent commitment to our netball TikTok’s and filming Chloe stack it and finally finding a sport holly can’t play.

Hopefully being Netball sec will give me something to distract myself from my diss next year and a great excuse to leave the library.
